Taking action to make Sandhurst and Sangley Roads safer

For many years local residents have been raising concerns about noise, vibrations from buses, damage to parked cars and the overall safety record of Sandhurst and Sangley Road.
Lewisham Liberal Democrats are keen to support and work with local residents to find practical solutions to these issues.
We have contacted Hina Bokhari, a Liberal Democrat London Assembly Member who kindly asked three written questions to the Mayor.
These questions and the replies from Sadiq Khan can be seen here:

Hina Bokhari has also written to the Mayor of London setting out a number of practical actions that should be taken. We will publish the response from Sadiq Khan as soon as we receive it.
We have also been asking public questions to Lewisham Council. This is the question that Josh Matthews asked in July (Public Question No. 46 / 16 July 2025):
Question: What are the council's plan to liaise with TFL, Met Police, and the Mayor of London more broadly on behalf of the residents of Sandhurst Road? I ask regarding speeding, ineffective traffic calming measures, four daytime bus routes, and a night bus on the one road, which is leading to damage to parked cars, vibrations felt in homes, adn structural damage to houses.
Answer (Cllr Louise Krupski): The Council has been holding regular meetings with the residents group for this location, with issues being fed back to the Met Police and TfL. The Council is looking at a proposal for the removal of footway parking, with traffic calming being realigned to help reduce the speeds at the location.
