Catford residents let down by Network Rail

18 Feb 2023

Lib Dem campaigner Diana Cashin has finally been updated by Thameslink Railway over the long delays to completing the new lifts at Catford station.

The £3.7 million investment at the station started at the beginning of 2022.  Network Rail claimed that the lifts would completed by the end of October 2022.   After complaining about the delayed opening of the lifts and the lack of information provided to passengers Diana has now been told by Thameslink that due to delays in the delivery from abroad of a vital part for the lifts they will now only be operational by Easter – five months later than the initial opening date.

“The delays are a serious set back for passengers with mobility impairments, parents with young children and customers with heavy luggage” said Diana.

“While I am pleased that posters will now be put up updating passengers about the delays there there is no escaping the fact that  Catford residents have been badly let down by Network Rail.”
