Josh Matthews

I trained as a chemical engineer and now work professionally on climate change and sustainability. I research, build partnerships, help large and small organisation, and advocate for the policy and systems change we need.

I was a City Councillor in Cambridge before moving to London and now call Lewisham home. I was the shadow cabinet member for Climate, Environment, and the City Centre. 

I’ve also spoken at United Nations “COP” climate summits – so I’ve seen how local, national, and international priorities should and can work together for people and our communities. 

I have worked in energy, manufacturing, academia, and taught at universities and schools. I am also a member of the national Liberal Democrat Policy Committee. 

I want to bring that full mix of local, national, and international experience to Lewisham Council for you and our community.
