Welsh Liberal Democrats Spring Conference 2024

Thank you for registering for the Welsh Liberal Democrats Spring Conference 2024.

Registration is open to members of the Welsh Liberal Democrats, other members of the Liberal Democrats from outside Wales, and the general public or those representing organisations.

Party members who are under 18, full-time students or on benefits are eligible for a discounted concession rate. Please scroll for the appropriate category of registration for you.

The Conference Dinner will be taking place on the evening of Saturday 2nd March. Tickets for the dinner are available at the very bottom.

Meet The Candidates for Brent

Please join us to meet Helen Baxter and Jonny Singh, our candidates for the new parliamentary seats in Brent and for the London Assembly.

Helen and Jonny will lead a discussion on the Liberal Democrats’ policy priorities on defence, diplomacy, and development. We face a world of complex challenges posed by conflict, climate change and migration, and we are heading into the 2024 elections with a Liberal vision of how we tackle these challenges.

Helen Baxter is the candidate for the parliamentary seat of Queen's Park and Maida Vale. She is London Lib Dems treasurer and has worked as an international aid auditor, including for the European Commission.

Jonny Singh is the candidate for the parliamentary seat of Brent East, and for the London Assembly. He flew rescue helicopters for the RAF before becoming an international development executive. He is vice-chair of the Lib Dems international policy working group. 

They will be joined by Cllr Paul Lorber, the candidate for the Brent West seat and a councillor in Sudbury, and by Cllr Hannah Matin a Councilor for Alperton and Cllr Anton Georgiou, also councillor in Alperton and leader of the Lib Dem group on Brent Council.

Please join us this Tuesday the 19th of March for what promises to be a fascinating discussion, and help raise the funds we need to fight two elections in 2024!

Drinks and food will be provided, and Rob will share more of his plans and latest updates from the campaign as well as taking your questions.  We will also be hearing from special guest Sarah Olney MP.  

Standard tickets are £100, and we have provided a second "Donation" ticket for those who can't attend but would still like to contribute, or those would like to top up their ticket purchase with an additional donation.  

All funds raised from the event will go towards the London Campaign  - helping Rob to raise the issues that matter to us and increasing our presence on the GLA.

Understand the reasons canvassing works and why door knocking brings us electoral success; what to say (and what not); how to deal with objections; what's the difference between 'switch' and 'squeeze.' If you're a volunteer, whether you've done canvassing before, or not, learn how to be as effective as possible - and help us keep and win Lib Dem seats in Bath, FES and NESH! All members and registered supporters welcome - indeed encouraged - to join this training session.

GUEST SPEAKER - EDWARD LUCAS. He is a senior vice-president at the Centre for European Policy Analysis (CEPA) and writes a weekly column in the LondonTimes.

On Thursday 21st March we’re taking over the entire El Rincon restaurant at Tattenham Corner for a casual supper evening intended to combine relaxed socialising with a bit of low-key fundraising. We have a distinguished author and broadcaster as guest speaker and the restaurant is offering us a fantastic menu.

The European theme will be reinforced by our guest speaker, Edward Lucas. He is a senior vice-president at the Centre for European Policy Analysis (CEPA) and writes a weekly column in the LondonTimes.

Formerly a senior editor at The EconomistEdward Lucas brings a wealth of experience and a sharp and insightful take on the key issues affecting international security today.  His expertise also includes energy, cyber-security, espionage, information warfare and Russian foreign and security policy. In 2008 he wrote theThe New Cold War, a prescient account of Vladimir Putin’s Russia

He lives in London and in 2021 was adopted as the Lib Dem’s Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for the Cities of London and Westminster.
