Commenting on the news that Janet Daby (Whitefoot ward) and Alex Feis-Bryce (Evelyn ward) have resigned as councillors and that by-elections will be taking place, Lewisham Lib Dem spokesperson Lucy Salek said:
Lewisham Lib Dems are looking forward to fighting in both wards and we’ll be putting forward great candidates who are committed to the future of Lewisham. This is a chance to end Lewisham’s status as a one-party state and to challenge the complacency of the Labour administration. From affordable housing to recycling to education, Lewisham could achieve so much more but the council is just drifting along and failing to take hold of the problems facing the borough.
“This is also an opportunity for people in Lewisham to show their opposition to the chaos of Brexit. The Conservatives got us into this mess but it is Labour who are letting them get away with it, as we’ve seen just this week with Corbyn continuing to do all he can to avoid a People’s Vote
