A ceremony at Kelvin Grove School on Saturday, November 28th, saw local Greenpeace members join forces with Cllr Alex Feakes, Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidate for Lewisham West & Penge, to plant an apple tree and 'twin' Forest Hill with the threatened village.

Wed 25th Nov 2009:

Cllr Pete Pattisson, Cllr Alex Feakes and Tamora Langley submitted a petition of over 350 signatures from local residents demanding an end to the dire rail provision in Lewisham. The petition called for the proposed Victoria to Bellingham line to be re-instated after it was secretly cut by Transport for London. The service had been planned to mitigate the loss of the South London Line, but was scrapped without any public consultation.

Mon 16th Nov 2009:

Along with Pete Pattisson, our Lewisham East candidate, I was invited to the local Tamil community's 'Natchatram' celebration hosted by the 11 Stars Sports Club on Saturday night. A wonderful evening of great song, dance and food!

Mon 19th Oct 2009:

The Labour Minister who will take the final decision on Crystal Palace park has announced that he will not announce his decision until 20 May 2010, local Lib Dem councillors have learned. The next general election must be held by 6 June 2010.

Fri 16th Oct 2009:

Official unemployment figures show that more than twice as many residents are out of work than a year ago: the rate has jumped from 1.6% to 3.4%, meaning that thousands more local people are unemployed. However, the figures are far higher in Crystal Palace and Penge, which continue to be among the poorest in the borough.

Lib Dem councillors have reacted angrily to Bromley Council's failure to erect speed warning signs in Fox Hill and Belvedere Road.

Lib Dem leader Nick Clegg has demanded that MPs who "flipped" homes or avoided capital gains tax pay back the money and be punished. Both practices were heavily criticised during the expenses scandal but have not been addressed by the parliamentary inquiry.

Forest Hill Lib Dem Councillor Alex Feakes has challenged Labour administration in Lewisham over its record on Council Tax after figures released by the Department for Communities and Local Government showed the borough's Council Tax has risen at the quickest rate since the tax was introduced to become the highest in inner London in 2009-2010.
