European election: Stronger together, poorer apart12.41.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Wed 3rd Jun 2009
Thursday 4th June is polling day in the European elections. Voters in London will be electing a new group of Members of the European Parliament to represent the capital in Europe. The Liberal Democrats currently have one MEP, Sarah Ludford, and are campaigning to re-elect Sarah and to elect Jonathan Fryer as our second MEP. We believe that European cooperation is vital on international issues like the economy, crime and climate change. You can find out about our policies and candidates on the Liberal Democrats' European elections website. Under the electoral system being used, you vote either for a political party or an independent candidate, so please put your X next to the Liberal Democrats - look for our bird logo. Here's some useful information about voting. If you have a postal vote, it must get back to the Returning Officer by 10pm on Thursday. You can either post it by last post on Wednesday, or return it (in its sealed envelope!) to any polling station in the borough by 10pm on Thursday. The polls will be open from 7am to 10pm on Thursday. You can only vote at your local polling station. If you have any query about where this is, please call Electoral Services on 020 8314 6086. You do not need your polling card to vote. As long as you are on the electoral register for this election, you can just turn up and give your name and address. If you are not sure if you are on the register, you can check with Electoral Services on 020 8314 6086. Related Links:Liberal Democrats' European elections website.
