Lewisham and Bromley should share amenity sites - say Lib Dems

Local Liberal Democrats are urging Lewisham and Bromley councils to come to an arrangement over the use of the Refuse and Recycling Centres (amenity sites) in Waldo Road and Churchfields in Bromley.

Currently, many residents in Downham, Catford and Southend use these facilities because the Lewisham amenity site in Deptford is too far away. But non-Bromley residents are being charged to take waste to the two sites.

The Mayor of London’s waste strategy urges councils to agree that all Londoners using civic amenity sites should be able to do so free of charge.

Whitefoot campaigner Cathy Priddey says, “Charging people for disposing of waste only encourages fly-tipping. Bromley and Lewisham council officers need to sort this out."
