Olympic athlete and film-maker complete Lib Dem team for Lewisham
Lewisham Liberal Democrats have finalised their team of candidates for the general election expected later this year. Columba Blango, prospective parliamentary candidate for Deptford, and Alex Feakes, prospective parliamentary candidate for Lewisham West, join Richard Thomas who was chosen late last year to fight the Lewisham East seat.

At a packed selection meeting, the candidates were quizzed for their views on the health service, housing, education and the situation in Iraq, before being overwhelmingly endorsed by the members present.

Columba Blango is a former Mayor of Southwark and represented Sierra Leone in the 1980 Olympic's decathlon event.

Alex Feakes is a past candidate for Lewisham Mayor and runs a film and video production company.

Richard Thomas is a Southwark councillor and works for an environmental charity.
